North West Net Zero Hub

The Local Net Zero Hubs programme is funded by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero. There are five hubs across England, helping local authorities and communities to play a leading role in UK Government’s mission to Make Britain a Clean Energy Superpower. The hubs provide free strategic and technical support to the public sector and communities to develop, finance and deliver net zero energy projects and attract commercial investment, including alignment to Great British Energy’s Local Power Plan.
The North West Net Zero Hub is hosted here at the LCRCA. The Hub provides support across the Liverpool City Region, and also in Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire & Warrington. The programme is overseen by the five Enterprise Partnerships and Combined Authorities in the North West of England.
The Hub has recently published our Clean Power Paper, which brings together the aims from the Government’s Clean Energy Superpower Mission and key decarbonisation themes into a single document. It aims to provide knowledge transfer across the public sector and showcase best practice projects supporting the North West’s transition to net zero.
The paper identifies billions of pounds of investment that will flow into the North West to develop clean power infrastructure, and looks at the unprecedented opportunity this presents for the communities, businesses and organisations in our region.
