What is the Digital Inclusion Network?

The Liverpool City Region (LCR) Digital Inclusion Network brings together over 200 organisations from across the Liverpool City Region who play a role in supporting the digital inclusion agenda. Its vision is to create a digitally inclusive Liverpool City Region where no one is left behind.

Its core goals include:

To build a coordinated and connected digital inclusion ecosystem across the Liverpool City Region.
To support organisations across the city region to deliver digital inclusion activities in a sustainable way.
To increase awareness and understanding of the digital inclusion agenda and help influence system-level change across the city region.

Digital Inclusion Network Event

Why is the network important?

Hundreds of thousands of individuals across LCR are ‘digitally excluded’. This means they may not have access to the internet, the right equipment, appropriate digital skills, or be able to afford to go online.

Enabling individuals to digitally take part in their communities, engage with family, or access online support services (such as NHS Digital or Government Services), is essential for ensuring our residents can make the most of a modern digital life.

What is the Digital Inclusion Pledge?

We ask members of the network to sign the Digital Inclusion Pledge, which shows an organisation’s support for tackling this agenda. There’s no intrusive criteria or monitoring required – but we ask you always think about digital inclusion by:

Supporting digital inclusion activities in LCR
Sharing best practice to other network members
Supporting your staff to learn essential digital skills
Supporting others needing help to get online
Donating any retired digital kit where appropriate

Background to the Network

Our approach to digital inclusion has been to acknowledge and support the incredible amount of work already taking place across the region, adding value from the Combined Authority to help co-ordinate activity and support our residents.

A Digital Inclusion Taskforce was established in January 2023, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders across LCR – with priorities identified through various sub-groups. This included the need to establish a Digital Inclusion Network, build a Digital Champions Programme and work with national organisations to leverage support across our six authorities.
